RI H-8313 Removes Deadline to Comply With Fire Code!
H-8313 has passed and is on the way to the Governor's desk. David Smith (Aero) and Steve
Zhubigo diligently spent one of the last days of RI session chasing down support and testifying at
9 PM in front of a committee to please NOT pass favorably the removal of the deadline which
takes all teeth out of the Fire Safety Act.

One Senator Breene took notice of the point and was genuinely appalled at this maneuver by
politics. Sen. Breene may be an advocate to speak with for the 2009 session to return a deadline.

NFSA Members Continue to Work With Governor's Office~
~Limited Licensure Battle Continues~
After recent meetings with Department of Labor and Training and the Fire Code Board of
Appeals we have found that the Governor's office is receiving mixed signals.

The Governor's Director of Policy has been hearing favorable comments for the limited license
classification whereas the industry has been hearing unfavorable sentiment from the same
people.

It is
encouraged that more industry representatives to please get involved! There has been a
burden to schedules as well as a financial burden that only a handful have taken on. There are
more than the 4 or 5 fire sprinkler contractors in RI. Only these handful have supported a lobbyist
and taken several days to attend meetings. It is the responsibility of all fire sprinkler industry
representatives in R.I. to guard our industry.

Please contact Dominick Kasmauskas to get involved.
